<p>El Séfer ha- Òt, o libro del Signo, forma parte de una serie de obras proféticas y visionarias que Abraham Abulafia comenzó a escribir alrededor de 1279, iniciada con el Séfer ha- Yashár o Libro del Justo.</p>
<p>Para el autor, este libro puso fin a quince años de tormento interior y supuso el inicio de una gran etapa de liberación espiritual. Es un tratado visionario y autobiográfico que da testimonio de esta culminación, mediante la cual el Maestro logra convertir su imaginación en un estado de consciencia y, a la vez, reafirmar su disidencia.</p>
<p>Según Abraham Abulafia, el Nombre YHWH está sellado en el alma; y es mediante las diferentes combinaciones (tserufím) de las letras del Nombre, las cuales poseen un gran poder de iluminación, que tenemos acceso a la puerta de los misterios contenidos en los Nombres divinos.</p>
<p>El Séfer ha- Òt contiene ejemplos de estas variadas prácticas, codificadas en este libro.</p>
<p>Abraham Abulafia escribió este libro, entre 1285 y 1288, mientras estaba exiliado en la pequeña isla de Kemmuna, que forma parte del archipiélago de Malta, después de haber sido perseguido por el ilustre rabino de Barcelona, Shelomón ben Adret (RASHBA) (1235-1310)</p>
